What is being licensed

A complete physical-to-digital access layer for music products.

TagPlayer

A consumer scan-and-play app for albums, singles, exclusive tracks, and limited physical releases.

TagWriter

A standalone admin app for catalog search, unique tag batch generation, NFC writing, and verify-read activation.

NFC access API

Unlock, metadata, stream URL, session replacement, and access validation endpoints built for real product campaigns.

Protected streaming

Private media storage, mobile-ready M4A derivatives, server-issued signed URLs, and range playback support.

Borrowing logic

Each physical tag gets its own lease. The latest scan controls access, so handing over the tag works like handing over the CD.

Premium tag path

The URL model is ready for later NTAG 424 DNA / SUN upgrades without changing the listener experience.

Campaign flow

From catalog to tag to playback.

LabelTag keeps the campaign simple for operators while preserving server-side control over every physical tag.

Security and control

The tag is the physical key. The backend owns the rules.

No raw media URLs

Protected files stay private. Clients receive short-lived stream URLs only after entitlement checks.

Verified tags only

Generated tags start inactive. TagWriter must write and read them back before listener scans are enabled.

Last scan wins

A new scan of the same physical tag revokes the prior session and creates a fresh lease for the current holder.

Batch control

Each run is tracked with status, physical serial, write state, verification state, and resource mapping.

A listener can enjoy a 12-hour access window, but stream links stay short-lived and duration-aware. If the same tag is scanned elsewhere, the previous session stops receiving fresh access.

Buyer questions

Common licensing questions.

Can many tags unlock the same release?

Yes. A batch can contain hundreds of unique physical tag identities that all point to the same album, track, bundle, or campaign.

What happens if someone borrows a tag?

The newest scan becomes the current holder for that physical tag. The previous session can no longer request fresh metadata or stream URLs.

Do fans need an account?

The listener flow can be scan-first. The tag itself is the temporary physical key, while admins use authenticated tools to write and manage tags.

Can this become more tamper-resistant later?

Yes. The MVP uses unique opaque tag URLs, and the system is designed so premium batches can move to cryptographic NFC tags later.
