MusicTap Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Flourish$Prosper Music Group (“Flourish$Prosper,” “MusicTap,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use MusicTap.
MusicTap includes:
- the MusicTap listener application for iOS and Android (the “App”);
- the websites musictap.app and app.labeltools.ai, including unlock pages and licensing pages (the “Site”); and
- related operator tools used by licensed labels, distributors, merch teams, and artist camps, including MusicTap Writer / TagWriter and the NFC access API (together with the App and Site, the “Service”).
MusicTap is part of the Label Tools suite. Label Tools (labeltools.ai) has its own privacy policy. This Policy covers MusicTap. If you use both, both policies can apply.
If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the Service.
1. Who this Policy covers
We treat two kinds of users differently because they use MusicTap differently.
Listeners. People who scan a physical NFC tag, open an unlock link, stream a release, browse Free Listens, or earn badges. The App is scan-first. You do not have to create an account.
Licensees and operators. People who request a license, run a campaign, write tags, or administer catalog, access windows, or batches (including through Label Tools). This includes the licensing request form on the Site.
2. Information we collect
Listeners (the App)
MusicTap is designed so you can scan, unlock, and listen without signing up. We do not ask listeners for a name, email, password, or payment card in the App. The App sells nothing and has no in-app subscriptions.
We still process limited information so the product can work:
- Tag and access events. When you scan a tag or open a MusicTap unlock link, we validate that tag’s unique code on our servers and record the outcome (valid, inactive, expired, moved to another device, rate-limited). This is how we grant a listening window, enforce exclusive last-scan-wins tags, and show a countdown.
- Playback and library state on device. The App keeps a local library of releases you have opened, active passes, and related display state (artwork, timers, player position) so you can resume listening on that phone.
- Badges and progress. Badge progress (for example, scanning a number of unique tags) is stored at the device level. Badges do not currently transfer to a new phone because there is no listener account.
- Device and technical information. App version, device type, operating system, coarse network information such as IP address, crash or error logs, and similar diagnostics generated when you use the App or an unlock page.
- Optional communications. If you email support@musictap.app, we receive whatever you send (often phone model, OS version, what you scanned, and screenshots).
We do not collect payment details from listeners. We do not require a listener profile.
If we later offer optional accounts so a collection can sync across devices, we will update this Policy before that data is collected.
Licensees and operators
If you request licensing access or operate a campaign, we collect:
- Licensing form information: name, work email, company or label, role, expected tag volume, timeline, and the free-text description of what you want to unlock.
- Business and campaign information: catalog and release identifiers, artwork and audio you supply for a campaign, tag batch settings (shared vs exclusive, listening-window length, contents), physical serials, write/verify/active state, and related admin activity.
- Account information if you access MusicTap through a Label Tools workspace: email, credentials, invite status, and role, as described in the Label Tools Privacy Policy.
- Communications: emails and support requests about a campaign.
Website
When you visit musictap.app or app.labeltools.ai, our hosts generate ordinary server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps). Unlock pages exist to hand a scan to the App; they are not a web player.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- validate tags, issue short-lived signed stream URLs, and enforce access windows;
- operate exclusive (last-scan-wins) and shared tag modes chosen by the licensee;
- show library, player, home feed, Free Listens, and badge progress;
- review licensing requests and deliver Pilot, Label, or Platform campaigns;
- provide support, diagnose failures, and prevent abuse (including rapid re-scan rate limits);
- secure the Service, including keeping media in private storage so it is not a public file link;
- comply with law and enforce our terms; and
- produce aggregated or de-identified statistics that do not reasonably identify you (for example, whether a campaign’s tags are unlocking).
We do not use listener information to sell advertising. We do not sell personal information.
4. How streaming and tags work (why this data exists)
A MusicTap tag carries an opaque unlock URL, not the audio file. Music stays in protected storage. After a valid scan, the App receives a short-lived signed URL and streams audio (M4A) during the licensee-set window. That is why we process scan events on the server, and why we do not offer downloads or offline files.
Older tags that use app.labeltools.ai links are still MusicTap tags. They are covered by this Policy.
5. How we disclose information
We disclose information only as needed to operate the Service or as described here.
- Service providers. Companies that host the Site and App backend, store protected audio, issue signed URLs, send email, and help us secure and maintain the Service. The Site is hosted on Netlify. Tag validation, entitlements, and protected media storage currently run on the same Flourish$Prosper / Label Tools cloud infrastructure, which uses Supabase for operator authentication, database, functions, and file storage.
- App stores. If you download the App from Apple or Google, those companies process install and device information under their own policies.
- Licensees (limited, campaign-level). A licensed operator can see campaign-level tag and unlock status for batches they own (write, verify, active, serial mapping). They do not receive a listener’s name or email, because listeners do not have accounts. They may see that a tag was scanned and whether the lease is active.
- Legal, safety, and rights. When we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or is necessary to protect Flourish$Prosper, artists, listeners, or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.
- With your direction. When you ask us to (for example, a support thread).
We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The Site may use essential cookies or local storage to operate pages (for example, form state). The App uses on-device storage for library, passes, and badges. We do not use these technologies to serve third-party targeted ads.
You can control cookies through your browser. Disabling them may break the licensing form or unlock handoff.
7. Retention
- Listener scan and entitlement records are kept as long as needed to operate leases, prevent abuse, and support campaigns the licensee is still running, then deleted or de-identified.
- On-device library and badges remain on your phone until you delete the App or clear its data.
- Support emails are kept as reasonably needed to resolve the request and maintain security records.
- Licensing and campaign records are kept for the life of the commercial relationship and as required for contracts, tax, and legal obligations.
We may retain de-identified or aggregated information longer.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information and audio, including:
- private media storage (no raw public file URLs);
- entitlement checks before a signed stream URL is issued;
- inactive tags until MusicTap Writer writes and verify-reads them;
- last-scan-wins session replacement on exclusive tags;
- rate limits on rapid re-scans.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Do not treat a signed stream URL as a file to copy or post. It is a temporary lease, not a download.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
Because listeners do not have accounts, there is no in-App profile to edit. You can:
- stop using the App and delete it, which removes on-device library and badges;
- stop scanning tags;
- email support@musictap.app to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold (for example, a support thread, or a licensing-form submission). We may need to verify the request.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing.
California. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law. California residents may request the categories of information we collect and use, and may request access, correction, or deletion, subject to legal exceptions. We will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland. Our legal bases may include performance of a contract (providing a scan-to-listen session or a license), legitimate interests in operating and securing a physical-to-digital access layer, compliance with law, and consent where required. You may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
10. International transfers
We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those laws may differ from the laws where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. MusicTap licenses are sold to businesses; operator and licensing use is for adults (18+). If you believe a child has provided personal information, email support@musictap.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Changes
We may update this Policy. We will post the new version on musictap.app and revise the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice as required by law (including in the App where feasible).
